Operation license does not replace the product registration
Rwanda Food and Drug Authority (Rwanda FDA) declares
that due to the great advantages of antiseptic and disinfectant products to
fight against microbes during corona virus(COVID-19) pandemic, the use of these
products have increased significantly as well as an increase of substandard and
counterfeit antiseptic and disinfectant products. That why Rwanda FDA reminds
the stakeholders that the product must be registered before being available on the
market and encourages both local and foreign manufacturers, wholesalers,
importers, suppliers and representatives for registration of antiseptic and
disinfectant products with Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority(FDA) for public
health protection.
Rwanda FDA says that during the registration process, the
registration documents must be accompanied by 500 milliliters of sample and
non-refundable invoice. The local manufacturers are warned that the operation
license does not replace the product registration, and they are required to make
product registration before releasing them to the market. Furthermore, Rwanda FDA
announces 15 September 2020 as the last day for registration of unregistered products.
